Westbrae/Monterey Market

The Westbrae strip is a peaceful neighborhood in the northern area of Berkeley, bordering Albany, and covers a few blocks of Gilman Street and Hopkins Street. Favorite stops in this section of Berkeley include Lalimes restaurant, and some of the best grocery shopping around, including the Monterey Fish Market. There is a wonderful park and gardens that offer pedestrian and bike trails, tennis courts, play areas, a swimming pool and track. For plenty of cafe reading, one can go to the local branch library housed in a classic Julia Morgan-designed building. The housing consists primarily of bungalows and cottages above San Pablo Avenue. The charts above also include data for sections of South and West Berkeley.
