Claremont/The Uplands/Elmwood – As you enter this neighborhood, it is impossible not to be awed by the beautiful tree-lined streets, large traditional and brown shingle homes and central location. Located just east of Elmwood Street and west of the majestic Claremont Hotel, this area has some of the grandest and most expensive homes in Berkeley. On a quiet weekend morning you can make your way to a wonderful breakfast at Rick and Ann’s restaurant, or watch the day go by with a Peet’s coffee and pastry from the Bread Garden bakery.
