Berkeley Real Estate Offers Something For Everyone

Each Neighborhood is Unique
Berkeley is full of quiet neighborhoods, exceptional shopping and an intellectually stimulating college town atmosphere. It’s a small city of 107,000 residents located on the east shore of the San Francisco Bay, best known as the site for the University of California, Berkeley, and is considered one of the most liberal cities in the nation.
Berkeley real estate consists of a number of distinct neighborhoods and although considered a small city, it enjoys some of the best dining and shopping in the East Bay. It is the home to a variety of entrepreneurial ventures and enjoys beautiful parks, views, art and excellent sports due to its proximity to the UC Berkeley campus.
Each of its neighborhoods enjoys unique architectural elements, wonderful local eateries, an active community and no shortage of political views. I specialize in the neighborhoods of North Berkeley, the Elmwood/Claremont area and the Berkeley Hills. Feel free to browse through the neighborhood sections of my website for more specific information.
Arts, Sports, Festivals and Natural Beauty
The city of Berkeley boasts a large number of festivals and events. I’ve listed a few below to give you a feeling for this cosmopolitan city:
Biking and Hiking trails abound all over the city — With miles and miles of trails and Tilden Regional Park, Berkeley is one of the most bicycle-friendly cities in the nation. In 2000, the City Council rolled out the Berkeley Bicycle Plan, an official pledge to “create a model bicycle-friendly city where bicycling is an attractive, easy, safe, and convenient form of transportation and recreation for people of all ages and bicycling abilities.”
Berkeley Ironworks: You don’t have to be outdoors to enjoy cliff climbing at this unique indoor wall climbing facility. Berkeley Ironworks is one of the largest Touchstone gyms and boasts incredible climbing terrain along with a varied assortment of additional offerings.
California Golden Bear Athletics: You can’t live in the East Bay without experiencing a UC Berkeley Cal Bear sporting event. Its teams are often nationally ranked and enjoy wonderful venues to showcase the University’s fine athletic program. Memorial Stadium, the home of the Cal Bear football team, will be completing a major renovation by the 2012 season and will house approximately 63,000 screaming fans.
Solano Avenue Stroll: 26 blocks of free fun! Since 1974, the merchants, restaurants, and professionals, as well as the twin cities of Albany and Berkeley CA, have hosted the Solano Avenue Stroll, the east bay’s largest street festival! Over five hundred vendors, non-profit organizations, food booths and entertainers take part every year. This is a family event. We feature a special area set aside just for kids that offer giant slides, carnival games, clowns, jugglers, stilt walkers, face painters, magicians, and maybe even wizards and elves. Come join in the fun!
Berkeley Arts Festival: We have scheduled concerts with some of the most creative people in Berkeley–the musicians, composers and writers who bring vibrant talents for all to hear and see. So come along with us on an exciting journey into their domains.
Berkeley Kite Festival: The Kite Festival is a colorful, annual event during the last weekend of July. On the way to the festival you can see the large octopus kites from the freeway, creating instant excitement. There are hundreds of people flying kites and vendors selling whatever you need to get started. They even offer a “flight school” for those who want to learn tips and tricks from the pros.
Cal Shakes: Founded in 1974, Cal Shakes is an award-winning, nationally recognized regional theater. Through seasonal productions at our outdoor amphitheater, and in year-round school and community-based programs, Cal Shakes expands access to the arts and builds diverse ownership of our region’s cultural vitality by fostering participation and art education.
Lawrence Hall of Science: This is a fabulous museum full of “hands on” activities and displays that explore scientific principles. Come visit our featured and ongoing exhibits—and explore science by doing science.
