Glenview Real Estate and the Oakmore and Dimond Districts

Glenview

Located just off Interstate 580 on Park Boulevard, the Glenview district centers around a two-block strip of wonderful restaurants and neighborhood stores. With convenient access to the larger village of Montclair, Glenview homes consist of charming cottages, restored bungalows and multi-unit buildings, often in high demand for first time and move-up homebuyers.

Given how small the business district actually is, it is amazing how much time my family spends there; we order take-out from the local Japanese restaurant, Park Sushi (some of the best sushi in Oakland) and Banana Blossom, a wonderful Thai restaurant.   My husband and daughter have been students for many years at the family friendly martial arts studio, Baker’s Martial Arts, right in the center of town.

Oakmore

The Oakmore district was originally developed by The Walter H. Leimert Company to be a model modern residential community that included clean and safe streets with ample sidewalks in the 150 acres that comprises the neighborhood. Careful attention was given to the plotting of the property to take advantage of the natural beauty of the terrain.

The architectural styles range from Monterey Colonial to Mediterranean, Rustic Tudor and Spanish. Many of the homes have spectacular gardens and bay views. Centrally located close to Freeway 13 and the Montclair Village, this area is a sought after destination for those who want the benefits of suburban living within minutes of commerce and commute access.

Dimond

The Dimond district can trace its roots to Hugh Dimond, a Scotsman who bought property in the 1840’s in the area that is now Dimond Park. The business district centers on the intersection of MacArthur Boulevard and Fruitvale Avenue, with many of the businesses established after World War II and still existing today. Homes are primarily bungalows and craftsman.

The Dimond Neighborhood Association is an active group that has been successful at significantly enhancing the quality and appeal of the business district and surrounding areas. The combination of good access to Interstate 580, proximity to shopping and more approachable home prices make this an excellent location for first time home buyers.

Glenview real estate and the surrounding neighborhoods offer charming homes, friendly shops and great access for commuters. If I can assist you with a property in one of these fine Oakland neighborhoods, please contact me today: (510) 813-0321 or dcohen@grubbco.com.
