The Piedmont-side of Montclair is one of the most desirable and accessible neighborhoods in Oakland. The Piedmont Pines section of Montclair offers many older homes that were originally used as vacation retreats by residents of San Francisco. If time permits, residents will join visitors who wait in line outside Fenton’s Creamery to enjoy massive locally made ice cream sundaes (at a massive price) and then make their way to the next showing of an independent film at the Landmark Piedmont Cinemas. It is close to Interstate 580, and within a short ride to the MacArthur BART Station, making it a top choice for commuters. Housing consists of charming cottages and multi-unit buildings.
